Our bathrooms have evolved into sanctuaries that offer relaxation, rejuvenation, and functionality. This year’s trends are all about creating spaces that blend form and function with a touch of luxury. So, let’s explore the professional opinion of our Project Designer, Nicole Gurney, and what she thinks are the top bathroom remodeling trends that are making waves in 2023!

Biophilic Design

Your first question might be, ‘what the heck is biophilic design?’ It was mine too, but once I heard it was just the fancy (and much shorter) way of describing architectural design using nature as inspiration for finishes and bringing a natural environment inside, it all made sense. I’ve used biophilic design in various projects throughout my career so I’m glad to see it becoming more popular in bathrooms.

Biophilic design is all about reconnecting with nature and incorporating natural elements into our living spaces and bathrooms are the perfect place to embrace this concept. Natural materials like wood, stone, and plants (think wooden vanities, stone bathtubs, and living green walls) help create a serene atmosphere in the bathroom, perfect for unwinding after a long day.

Freestanding Bathtubs

Freestanding bathtubs are taking center stage in 2023 bathroom remodels, literally. People are moving away from having the vanity or shower serve as a focal point in the bathroom and opting for the freestanding bathtub. Not just because the only other option would be the toilet, but because the options for freestanding bathtubs are becoming extremely eye-catching. Take a look at some of these options on the KBDN website here. You will definitely see some designs you would’ve never thought a bathtub could have.

Stylish Interior Of Bathroom

Floating Vanities

No, there are no magnets involved or high-tech hover devices being used for these floating vanities. They’re unfortunately much simpler than that. These floating vanities are suspended from the wall to look like there’s nothing (no legs) supporting them from the floor. They offer a sleek, modern look and create the illusion of more space, so you will see them a lot in smaller bathroom layouts. I like that they provide the added benefit of easier cleaning and you can even add lighting under them to create a unique look.

Spa-inspired Amenities

‘I spent the day at a spa’ is a phrase I think everyone should say at least once in their life. And it seems the bathroom remodeling industry took this idea to heart. Because now, homeowners in 2023 are increasingly looking to recreate the luxurious experience of a spa in their own bathrooms. Spa-inspired amenities such as steam showers, deep-soaking tubs, and rainfall showerheads are becoming popular additions to bathroom renovations. If you can believe this, people are also incorporating features like extra seating, aromatherapy systems, and chromotherapy lighting to elevate the sensory experience and create the ultimate relaxation space.
